The Blues Kitchen
Yes, yet another blues related venue opens in London. This time in North London’s fashionable Camden... It seems they have the right idea, and have even enlisted the help of our own Bluesinlondon Records in running a night. Check out their press release...
"Launching in early October 2009, The Blues Kitchen intends to be at the forefront of London’s burgeoning blues scene. With live music 7 nights a week, this venue will offer a selection of authentic soul food, and one of London’s most extensive lists of Bourbon.
The Blues Kitchen is the latest venture from Steve Blonde and Riz Shaikh of The Columbo Group whose portfolio includes well-loved pubs Paradise By Way Of Kensal Green, The Old Queen’s Head, Albert & Pearl and The Westbury.
Open until late every night (3am weekends), the music programme at The Blues Kitchen will boast an unparalleled selection of rhythm and blues. The line up will showcase band residencies, jam nights, classic soul all-nighters and a whole host of DJ’s with some of the most eclectic record collections around. Alternate Sundays (beginning 19th October) will see the Jam Session hosted by Vulnerable Things front man GP Bennett along with members of Soul Kitchen, Them Changes and some established faces on the London Blues Scene – all are welcome!
Bluesindlondon Records will also be running a monthly club night at the venue, showcasing some hot new talent and proving how diverse the Blues genre can be.
The Blues Kitchen intends to introduce blues to a new generation of young music lovers. The blues form, ubiquitous in rhythm’n’blues, jazz and rock’n’roll will take the Camden music lovers back to basics to hear the world’s purest music plucked from the best record collections in town. Many new blues acts are lined up to play, as well as impromptu performances and secret gigs from high profile international acts.
The kitchen will serve home cooked soul food from 9am to 11pm every day of the week. With a Breakfast, Main and Dessert Menu to make the mouth water and, with mains all priced under £10."
